I’ll be playing some deep tunes each week at Southsea Castle’s new Friday night champagne bar. 6-9pm.
Come rain or shine, this wonderful historic Portsmouth landmark will be lowering it’s draw bridge and inviting you all in for a well deserved end of week tipple throughout the summer months. If champagne is not your thing there is plenty more to choose from at their well stocked bar, as well as some absolutely delicious, lovingly prepare nibbles should feel a little peckish.
If the weather is good you can chill in the beautiful courtyard and if it’s not so good the you can enjoy your end of week treat in the inviting and cosy bar itself. The perfect place to hide away from the elements and enjoy a drink and some tasty tunes.
So if you’re looking for post-work wind down or a pre-nightout warm up, why not pop down and get involved with something a little different.
Hopefully see you there.
This Sat 4th Feb.

Hello one, hello all, hope this message find you all very well.
The most painful month of the year is slowly drawing to a close. Christmas and New Year now seem like a long forgotten fragment of a once wonderful dream and the enthusiasm for a detox January is as exhausted as the bank account.
But there is finally the beginnings of a light at the end of this January shaped tunnel. Pay day is upon us, the detox is over and the wonderful first weekend in Feb is tantalisingly close.
So what you going to do to wave goodbye to a long hard January and hello to the rest of this wonderful year ahead??
Well we didn’t know either, so we thought we’d throw an impromptu underground rave up.
Nik Bunting has managed to get hold of the Citrus (Bar 69) at short notice. He’s taking his 2k sound system there and has invited the COR DJs to come and play some records with him.
3/7th of the COR fam in the form of Leon Windsor, Matt Seeney and Myself will be joining Nik for an impromptu night of eclectic delights.
And an eclectic night it will most certainly be. Nik will be taking his turntables so we will all be diggin the vaults to try and out do each other in the vinyl stakes.
I got a load of old deep house and 90’s house classics I just been gagging to air since rediscovering my love of the turntable over the new year, Matt will no doubt have a pile of fine edits, reworks and relevant hipwave output from the worlds finest independent imprints, Nik I know is chomping at the bit to throw down some old school DnB flavaz as well as a truck load of old housey goodness and Leon, unshackled from the the disco and house confines of the COR music policy (on which he manages always to occupy the fringes of anyway) will be able to exercise fully his back catalogue of early techno and anything else he thinks might piss me off.
But whatever gets played, in whatever genre, you can be completely assured they will all be total party starters. This will be a proper little underground smash!

Greg Wilson began DJing back in 1975. A pioneer of mixing in the UK, becoming the first ‘dance music’ DJ hired for a regular weekly session at Manchester’s seminal club, Hacienda, Greg was the first to push the new electronic, post disco records coming out of New York to the UK audience, a sound he dubbed ‘Electro-Funk’. He created the first UK radio mixes for Piccadilly 261 in Manchester back in 1982, and in 1983 he was the first DJ to mix live on TV (The Tube)
Taking a break from the scene at the end of 1983, he returned in 2003 with his own website ‘electrofunkroots, documenting this crucial era in UK dance music. Greg also returned to the clubs, spinning at such renowned nights as Electric Chair, Horse Meat Disco, Fabric & Back 2 Basics! This has lead to many bookings across the continent (including a terrace appearance at the famous We Love Sundays session at Space), with a world tour in 2008 encompassing Japan, Australia, Brazil & the USA.
Since his return to the scene, Greg has literally been on fire. DJ magazine nominated him for an outstanding contribution award, as well as being named amongst their top twenty remixers of all-time. In January 2009 Greg’s reputation was enhanced even further with his Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 becoming an instant classic, receiving universal acclaim (I have this mix myself and it really is that good! Eclectic isn’t the word, more like out of this world!!!).

What are you doing Sat 5th Dec? If you’ve got a blank space in you diary then perhaps we could entice you along to a wicked little one off tear up, organised by friend of COR Ben Rowe, that is being hosted at the Fat Fox in our beloved Southsea village to raise some festive funds for the uber worthy and equally uber brilliant Cancer Research UK.
For the frankly pittance door tax of just £3 you get to feast your ears on some of Southsea’s finest acts and collectives for your party pleasure and knees up delectation…
Hearts Of Oak (performing LIVE)
Handsome Dave Rocker
Mr Bevis (Southsea’s Beat Box supremo)
and as if that weren’t enough to pull you away from X Factor… COR’s Very Own
Mark Persaud &
…will be rocking some underground disco and house history party fun.
What a line up and all for the measly amount of £3 – you can’t even get a beer in some places for that!!
Being a fund raiser all of the acts have waved their fees and all profit from the door will be going directly to the wonderful Cancer Research UK.
